WMP11 skips?

Now, I love WMP11 to death, but I can't tolerate the fact that the music skips every few seconds. Does anyone have any idea at all why this is happening? My music is being read off a non-Vista partition (my XP partition, to be precise), but I meet all the specs (1 GB RAM, 3 GHz processor).

Do you have Visualizations turned on? I was having the same problem but after turning off Visualizations all my audio files play fine.

I have the same problem when I use WMP11 with Vista, It works fine with WMP11 on XP, that leads me to beleive it's a audio driver issue with Vista.

It still skips a little bit, but that helped a lot, thanks. Is that a WMP11 bug, then - it renders the visualization even when the Now Playing pane isn't open?

Have you tried with mp3 files with different bitrates? Try fixed bitrate song and VBR one. -- Try, learn, experience.

No offense Rahi but when you give an answer could you please a) put it in layman's terms and b) tell us exactly HOW to do what you're suggesting?
This
is just like your response to my workgroup sharing problem. Couldn't understand that response either.
Cheers.

VBR = variable bit rate, which is one of the options when you rip to Windows Media Audio in WMP10 or later... I have no idea how to make a MP3 VBR file, though. I think I have WMA VBR somewhere, though. *looks*

Sorry if i am been to "techy". Every mp3 file has bitrate. Basicly it tells quality if mp3. At first there was only fixed bitrate mp3s, like 128, 256, etc. But then appeared the VBR mp3s, which basicly means that songs bitrate varies "on-the-fly". Check properties of your mp3 and you see what i mean.
